I'm not sure I understand this comment in light of the big stink made on the forums by all the people complaining about the overall price increase of the GURPS4e line. I thought GURPS was getting more expensive for its initial buy-in.

When discussing (or calculating) the initial buy-in for GURPS 3E, keep in mind that you need both GURPS Basic 3rd Edition Revised and GURPS Compendium I. Many people consider Compendium II optional, and I am inclined to agree with these people, because it does not consider character creation options. Compendium II is useful for certain campaign types, such as those where hazardous enviroments are of some importance. Or mass combat.
