I've been itching to run a Cthulhu adventure set in ancient Rome.

Elagabalus, an emperor from a foreign city, named for his dubious patron deity, enshrined a mysterious black stone that fell from the heavens on one of the hills (iirc Palatine) as a sign from his god.

The Cthulhu possibilities for this are endless.
