I haven't really played enough to notice the 'scaling' problem, but I've heard that often enough about Champions/Hero, that I doubt that there's a great difference...

And I took a look at 'Nocturnals', and was quite underwhelmed...
I'm not familiar with the comic, but it seems closer to a 'GURPS Horror' setting than M&M...
