Well, here's another way of looking at it:

So you want to make an RPG supplement. You could make it "generic," i.e. no system rules. You can then watch it fly straight to the "Not D20" ghetto of the store shelves.

OR, you can crap out some prestige classes and feats and such, assume that buyers who aren't D20 robots will be smart enough to adapt the material they like to their own games. In the process, you can even make some money.


I was actually buying a fair amount of D20 stuff before WotC refocused the game to Crunch (system-specific stuff) over Fluff (stuff that aids my imagination).
