Converted from Phorums BB System

Um, I wouldn't say so. I'd stick with the more "traditional" horror games, as the Cinematic Unisystem is very "cinematic", as the name suggests, and everything you hate is hardcoded in the game. So, no.

That said, I have never played CoC or Unknown Armies.

In my opinion, WB's Buffy, Angel, and Charmed form the unholy trinity of Diet Cult. They are lame shows that serve no purpose other than to suck the life and everything that's cool out of the horror genre. They took everything that horror authors have built up over the last 100 years and made chick shows out of it. Even the most "scary" episodes that are precluded by parental advisory warnings are laughable. Everything that should be frightening or at least unnerving becomes utterly mundane in these worlds.

That said, I understand that RPG.net has quite the Buffy/Angel following, so forgive me.

My questions are: If I flush my memory of Joss Whedon's poor attempt at hard-boiled dialog, the wooden acting by all actors, and if I cover up the giant close-up pictures of the actors in the rulebook with black construction paper, is Angel a good game? A good horror setting? And how does it compete with, say, Call of Cthulhu or Unknown Armies? I'm giving this game the benefit of the doubt....
