Converted from Phorums BB System

The point of the moral degeneration check, inasfar as I understand it, is that losing Morality is a mental trauma. By and large, until you hit Morality 6, you can still tell yourself "I'm not a bad person." You're still a low-abiding, decent human being.

The drop from 7 to 6 is a breaking point. You didn't just do something that wasn't necessarily not-good, you did something BAD. Odds are good, though, that you won't pick up a derangement from it. It's a lesser trauma, that. Eventually though, if you continue to degenerate, it becomes too much--you've done things you know to be horrible, and something in you snaps.

As I understand (this is important), higher morality doesn't make you immune from derangement--you can have every derangement in the book and be at a 10. But the guilt you feel won't break you.
