Converted from Phorums BB System
Yes, and it is that call that I find to be utterly bizarre! It certainly isn't the most complicated power, no more so than some of those that were included, and I don't see it as being unbablnced. If you do, then we must agree to disagree.
According to the designer, it's a power that requires some GM oversight. If Sidekick is aimed at HERO newbies, maybe it's justified that powers that require them to be conversant in the system can wait for them to get a handle on it first. Is that such a huge crime?
I was talking about 'important characters' (such as Wonder Woman and Captain America), and not trying to imply that it was 'every' character!
You wrote "...the number of important comics characters." The number, IMO, is not so great that this is a huge oversight. It also doesn't really prevent a player from emulating these abilities.
I paid $9.95 for original Champions!
Yes, so did I. IN *1982*. That's $20 in 2004 money. So, correction, it costs 50% of what you paid for the 64pp supers-only version of HERO 22 years ago, which, figuring in page count, is really 25% of what you paid (maybe less, figuring in multi-genre capabilities).
Yes. Pathetic, isn't it? Hero has strayed so far from it's roots that, even in a game called 'Sidekick', it has to be all things to all people, and can't concentrate on just one subject...
Oh, fucking Christ. HERO has been branching into other genres since fucking 1983! Roots, my bleeding fanny. Your axe is ground down so much by now it must look like a stick.
Go play your 3rd edition and have fun. I'm done.
