Well then why does it say in the VtR splat that this is a fear of Vampires something do do with pot 10 blood and being reall old making people unsure if that blood will thin. I'll check the book tonight and post the page number and quote

The point is that it is a rumour There are also rumours in the book that Dracula was the first vampire, that Longinus was the first vampire and that it's all a big conspiracy. The point is that nobody knows anything for certain.

Nobody has ever seen a Vampire that powerful - nobody even knows who started the clans, or if bloodlines really are weaker than clans or if vampires have to come from clans. That's a big difference from old V:tM.

Also - there is no Camarilla, no Sabbat. The Covenants only operate on a city-scale. While they are world wide philosophies, one city's Lancea Sanctum will operate differently from anothers. They aren't big globe-spanning organisations. They are more like little cells operating to some long forgotten "leader's" guidelines.

There is no Gehenna, no Jyhad, no End of the World promised. Just a whole bunch of confused and contradictory prophecies.

Yeah, I read the book and thought - there is a lot of similarities between this and V:tM. But there are also a lot of differences, and the general feel and theme of V:tR is very different from the first.

I am so tired of people quoting the similar words that are used and simply refusing to look at the actual game itself and how it is set up. It is a different setting with a totally different feel. Remember, there is no such thing as generation anymore. Anyone can get to Blood Potency 10 just by living long enough without falling into Torpor. The likelihood is very very slim, but it is possible. Also, Potency decreases the longer someone is in Torpor - so sleeping Antediluveans wont be uber powered. It says quite clearly - the whole thing is a rumour. Which says to me that the writers are simply stating - if you want there to be a V:tM armageddon, go wild. But it isn't guaranteed in this setting.
