RE: Buffy vs. Angel?

Converted from Phorums BB System

They are stylisticly diverse. The Buffy world is one of teenage problems. Dating goes bad, dances turn out poorly, fashion is mocked, and a Slayer leads a gang of Scoobies, with maybe a physically inept Watcher for research, and a budding Wicca for a little extra sauce when need be.

Angel, however is much more adult, in the non-sexual way. Okay, partially sexual. Mainly maturity. Betrayal, backstabbing, questioning morality, inner city violence, at what point do you become worse than what you are hunting, etc. Also, it generally has a more level power curve. At the beginning of Angel, it was more Buffy-esque, with the uber-vamp and his gang of a psychic(who happened to be half demon, but that didn't make him much tougher), the prima donna Cordelia, and the pansy Wesley. This later became the vamp-with-psych-problems, the tough urban brawler Gunn, the mad as hell and a little dark Wesley, the psychic Cordelia, and a bunch of various toughs that wandered in and out, like the super human, but not especially demonic Connor, and others.

In terms of actual mechanics, Buffy has more magic rules (since it was a more significant element of that show) whereas Angel has rules for demonic players (in the power sense, not moral sense) and for creating organizations (since that was a more common element in Angel).
