I agree, and I would have mentioned them if I had written a review, but I also agree that they really aren't that important either (of course, this totally depends on your campaign). At least I didn't think so.

Talents are more than skill bonuses actually. They also increase your reaction when your talent would be applicable, and they also affect your learning speed for the relavent area of training.

They are certainly a nice addition.
