He's a villian, man! He doesn't go out to get the paper without two backup plans and a unwitting stooge. He's not going to go out and just 'torture' people - he's got grander plans than that!

Besides, this was much less work. He gave a guy a wish for life (which didn't need to last too long, did it?) and then showed up in my head to gloat a few times. Probably finished the New York Times crossword puzzle in between.
