After glancing at this particular topic while skimming the new book, my first impression was "Why does blurriness happen at all?" I can understand it being a similar mood/theme/myth/whatever of vampires not being seen in mirrors, etc. but I could never get into that thought. If nothing else, they're tangible enough - why not actually show how they look without the unnatural life in them. If you take the thought that pictures, reflections, etc. are pieces of the soul or of life, wouldn't pictures and mirrors show vampires as dessicated, gaunt and pale shells of themselves?
In this light - and century, however, that puts a heavy weight on such a camera-infested society.
As others have said - Why have them change at all? They're tangible enough - why have them 'distort' unless they have an inate ability or enacted discipline to avoid being seen?
