RE: Why Didn't Rome

I do not know what a "White Wolf" excuse is but it was based off of our play testers. Initially, the title was Roma Imperiosa (I wasn't happy with the translation) and our play testers did not like it. One group, knowledgeable in Latin, did and they also suggested that the forward be done in Latin. I routed it around to the other groups and nearly had a revolt on my hands.

I think the folks on RPG.Net sometimes loose sight of the bigger market. The biggest concern by our play testers, bar none, was that the book would have too much Latin or be unable to be understood because of all the Latin. We struck a compromise by putting the English with the Latin. This way we keep the mood but do not sacrifice understanding.

In the end, if the title is too annoying for you, I can appreciate that. Roma Imperious is not for everyone. We made a decision on the title and I have tried to explain our decision here. I am not making excuses, I am explaining.

Thanks for your comments.

Latin is intimidating to the average roleplayer? When did we get so weak? And why does that sound like a very White Wolf excuse...
