I've started an online Paranoia XP game on storycrafter, and an excellent example of it as a role-playing game is the character Igno-R-ANT, who is as dumb as his name implies, but is obviously being written by a very sharp individual. Igno easily gets confused and does silly things. (His first act as team leaders was to demand that all traitors identify themselves.) So clearly this player is playing a role.
