Converted from Phorums BB System

I just wanted to second Nathanael.

If you've played ANY games under the new rules, you'll realize games are totally different. Strategies have to be rethought. Because of the new assault rules in which every model in a unit within 2 inches of an engaged friendly model gets to attack, I had a hardcore Daemonhunter Inquisitor and retinue taken out by a lowly unit of Eldar Storm Guardians.

Not being able to assault if firing rapid fire weapons or heavy weapons is a big, big deal, too.

Similarly, the notion that a well placed penetrating hit against a vehicle now automatically vaporizes everything in it without a save is something to keep in mind with your troops in transports.

And what's funny is, in the main review, the guy gives high points to the "new art" when, in fact, much of the art in this book is regurgitated from the codices -- some even from as far back as second edition.

The art is great, and the mood of the book and the extras are great, I just think it's a valid point that there's actually more new meat here than fluff.

And the fact that you don't have to buy a new codex to play your army is proof positive that GW is sensitive to the impression out there that they are trying to screw you out of your cash any way they can.

I like WARMACHINE and Confrontation. Play them. Love them. But 40k is an old standby for good reason, and it has honest to god only gotten better. You could argue that with combat patrol and kill team they've included two whole new games. Play Kill Team and tell me it doesn't feel totally different and just as enjoyable as a huge game of 40k -- and the investment needed to play either of the new variants is minimal.

And there's an index!!!!!!
