Arg! Grr! Aaaauuuugggghhhh!

Never mind the run-on sentence followed by a sentence fragment for no good reason. The fact is that someone is not "literally dead inside" unless his heart has stopped beating, his liver doesn't work, his kidneys have failed, and so on.

The word "literally" is not used for emphasis. It is used to express a lack of metaphor, that the words mean _exactly_ what they say.
