edge-matching and falling behind

Converted from Phorums BB System

A minor nitpick: I wouldn't call Metro an edge-matching game, since every tile has two tracks on every edge. The only placement restrictions are adjacency (you have to extend existing track) and scoring (you can't make a one-point track unless there's no other option).

About the falling behind part: I think there's a fair bit of diplomacy (a.k.a. whining) required to convince others not to close out your tracks if you're in last place. The hard part is that the scoreboard is not a good indicator of who's ahead or behind. With 5-6 players it can also be chaotic enough that you just get closed out by accident, which is why I usually prefer to play with 2-4. (Except then I can never be purple, which sucks!)
