The first character I ever created for Vampire: the Masquerade (didn't actually play him, I was just trying out the process) was a Gangrel who started life as a vampire hunter in early 19th-century Poland. After being Embraced, he came to terms with the fact that not all vampires are Evil, but he still went after those who "stepped over the line". He believed God had allowed him to be made into a vampire so that he would be better equipped for hunting other vampires.
