Just one quibble really. You said that you missed the option not to have a clan that you got in V:tM.

Perhaps you played the game differently to me, but in my experience, "Caitiff" was very much a Clan - being Clanless, in many ways, tied to into the Clan structure (in the position of Untouchable Outsider) far more than just being a Toreador or Ventrue.

By contrast, since Clans in V:tR are, as you rightly point out, effectively just tropes of vampire fiction, they're far easier to ignore. In V:tR you can play a Nosferatu who doesn't give a crap about Clans, you couldn't really do the same thing in V:tM

In some ways I worry that Covenants will be going the same way as Clans in the new game. They already gave "the Unaligned" a full Covenant-style writeup, and seem to continually refer to them as a group. Much like the Caitiff really
