I agree and could not have put it better.

If a publisher wants a review there are ample amounts of people who are generally happy to do it for the price of a copy of the game (which is even a cheaper investment if it is a pdf...). It is a cheesy ploy that does much to turn me off of a game.

Much of this falls back on the RPG.net staff who let author written reviews in the first place. I would rather have 1 good review than 100 reviews like this.
