Well, it's not so much that it's a badly-written review (which it is), but that it's done by the authour.

Now, when people click on a review, they don't expect to see an advert, or game designer notes, or anything like that. They expect to see someone unaffiliated with the publisher, giving their honest opinion of the work.

If they click on it and get an advert or whatever, then that makes them reluctant to click on a review link again. It's like when you go to the video store, if the last six out of six movies from the "action" section were @!#$, then next time you go to another section, right?

So, "self-reviews" or whatever we call them, they just lead to less people reading reviews. Which makes posting them pretty pointless.

RpgNetters are miserable and cynical enough already without our actually giving them reason to be.

Just have another section. "Game Designer Notes" or something. If we can take the trouble to split the forums into, for example, "Freelancers" and "Solicitations", I don't see why we can't take the trouble to split "reviews" and "self-reviews."
