Vordaks tended to be scouts and force commanders, usually leading parties of Giaks. They might also be encountered in squads, riding Kraan (singular and plural forms of this word look the same), as part of a larger battleforce. They were the most common undead servant of the Darklords in the Lone Wolf books.

One other note: Dakomyds are EXTREMELY rare. The only one encountered in the books was in book six, and it was guarding one of the Lorestones of Nyxator, the Lorestone of Varetta. This monster was capable of pulling itself back together after being carved up in combat (effectively regeneration after its hit points were reduced to zero, very fast regeneration). A Dakomyd has to be hit in a specific place, at the base of the skull on the back of the head I think, to be killed for good. Horrific creatures...
