Yes both my kids are under the age on the box and now when they come home instead of wanting to play the x-box they want to play D&D. Even the wife who was always to nervous to run a game had a go at running the adventure in the box. It was written in a way that made her feel confident and in control.

I agree with the rest 3rd level would have been the sweet spot
