Hmph! It all reminds me of Bill Gates' open letter to hobbyists in 1976, basically saying that sharing software is equivalent to stealing, and that nothing good can come out of anything free.
There are quite a few games that are free, that are grand, or at least have better ideas.
Being shackled to a publisher or a brand name can put nasty restrictions on quality. There are games, magazines and music that are pretty much junk, no matter how much glitz you try and dress them up in. Games, magazines, and music that people pay massive amounts of money for.
The Creative Commons license is also a wonderful example of what "free" can do -- with a couple conditions.
Ah, well, I'm probably preaching to the choir here, anyway.
