RE: Feng Shui vs Wushu

Converted from Phorums BB System

Ezekiel -
I've played both. The difference runs something like this:

Feng Shui - great light descriptive game. There's an element of Hero Games in the obsessive calculating done by minimaxers trying to get just the right combination. As a result, there are all the Fu paths, Gun schticks, Supernatural powers, etc, working in combination. Feng Shui uses description to get bonuses/avoid penalties.
BONUS Your character is still competent if you have an off night descriptively.
PENALTY Due to the underlying frame, you do have an unavoidable bit of complexity.

WuShu - great light descriptive game.
There's an element of Over the Edge in that characters pick define specialties and then narrate cool stunts in order to fully use their dice in that ability.
BONUS Much freer system allows storytelling over minimaxing. (I can't believe I'm saying a system is much freer than FS, but it's entirely true.)
PENALITY If you're having an off night descriptively, then you ain't doing jack.

Does that help?
