If you're lucky, it's only $29.99

Converted from Phorums BB System
Wizards of the Coast has set the bar for some of the highest prices for hard- and softcover supplements for their game lines over the last 5-6 years. Equally painfully, a lot of other major publishers are following suit to at least some degree. I personally think that all Wizards books are vastly overpriced, even the hardcovers. But maybe that's just me, since I hardly ever play any D&D, D20 Modern, or the most recent Star Wars RPG.
There was a time when D20 in all its forms seemed to hold infinite promise in my mind. Then I began to notice the inherent limitations of the system, the learning curve, and the necessary investment for too many D20-based games, with the thin but ridiculously pricey D20 Future being the biggest offender to date (but probably not for long. In my mind, $34.99-$40 for less than 200 pages is way too much). So I lost interest. I think the final blow came when AEG considered converting Legend of the Five Rings into a D20-exclusive license (Rokugan) and killing their non-D20 L5R RPG. I sure hope that rumor ain't true. It would certainly kill any business AEG would get from me.
