Converted from Phorums BB System

<<The atmosphere of the reimagined setting really comes into full effect in the first episode.>>

<<I think it's fairly easy to judge the miniseries, standing alone, as a simple hatchet-job of the concepts and characters of the original. With the series, that becomes more difficult. You get to see and understand what the producers are trying to accomplish, the kind of show they're trying to make, much more clearly.>>

One can only hope.

Then again after the let down of series like Andromeda, which had a great first season, but became a directionless miasma of incompressible nonsense built upon a foundation of non-existant plots that tied into nothing and led nowhere a space opera with a actual direction, and producers that stick to the premise rather than decide they want to indulge their egos, would be a breath of fresh air.

And the less said about the previous season of Enterprise the better.

<<Richard Hatch makes an appearance in the new series. This should be old news by now. What's surprising is that the guy can *act*. This was not much in evidence in the classic show, where he pretty much played the guy in the white hat all the time.>>

Actually one of my favorite scenes from the original series is from the pilot, from near the beginning where Apollo comes onto the bridge to report about sighting the Cylon tankers and massed raiders. There's a quick argument between Apollo and Col. Tigh, where both actors speak over each others lines, which I always thought was great.

Most shows back then had actors just sort of recite their lines, pause, wait for the other actor to recite their lines, so on and so forth.

Whether that's evidence of good acting or not I can't say, but it was a memorable acting moment.

But you're right, Apollo did sort of become the default good guy who always came to the rescue. Which is probably why the new Apollo's character, at least in the mini, was the virtual opposite.

It'll definitely be interesting to see how the character develops.
