Wow. This is one of the hugest cases of "your mileage may vary" I've ever seen. I've played in and run about a dozen Hero campaigns at the "heroic" power level, one of which lasted over two years. The system handled things brilliantly. In fifth edition, things have only gotten better: there are many more options at the lower power level with expanded talents and skills. For what it's worth, I think Hero could do an excellent job with B5.
