"Don't want this to be a good game" was, I think, in repsonse to my statement that one of the reviewers liked it due more to his desire to do so rather than any merit the game had. I believe his point was that it was good not merely because he wanted it to be good, but because it actually was ( I disagree, of course)
No one here denys that as a game where you have to make decisions that effect your survival, Betrayal fails. The reason I keep going on about it is because I want no one to think that it is anything more than reason to look at map tiles, draw cards and roll dice. I also want designers not to think that all they have to do is make a pretty looking game, and creepy-themed game and have people enjoy it. Some do, granted, but not being able to control your fate sucks.
Isn't that a taboo thing to do to characters in an RPG too?
