I agree with SteveD. There is a lot of luck involved in this game. However, this suit the theme of the game and its non-tactical nature. It is about quick "adrenaline induced" decisions not resource management.

Also, the decisions of the players are very important for survival. Common examples are agonising over your own survival or helping others, giving items to others and coordinating with others to survive.
