Converted from Phorums BB System
-------------------------------
Well its not just a 'nostalgia' kick, its also meets the desire of many people for a system that is less rules intensive.
-------------------------------
I agree, it's not *just* a nostalgia kick. But that's the big sell right now.
-------------------------------
The system is already appealing to a wider market than 'nostalgia' fans as well. It appears to be catching new players with both its inexpensive cost and ease of play.
-------------------------------
How do you know? That they're new, I mean.
I'd be careful about touting the inexpensive cost of a book said to have a number of typos, not such great art, etc..
-------------------------------
C&C is aimed at a 'style' of play, not just a particular nostalgic feeling.
-------------------------------
I get that. But the marketing push right now seems to be: Gygax. For example, the C&C page on Troll Lord Games' site doesn't say, "Try our innovative new system that allows you to run a quick, lighter game with the D&D material you already own," but rather, "Sign up for Gygax's roleplaying society from the 70's."
