Well, I would like to make a few comments regarding 'crunch' and markets.
1: There are no splat books planned for C&C outside of the CKG and Adventurers Handbook. The CKG will offer options and tons of options for play. The AH will offer the rules on class construction.
2: There will be one default setting - The Rings of Brass - for C&C. No more.
3: The question as to whether Crunch make a game alive or dead would take a lot to address, so I am not going to do so in detail other than to say, that is not supported by any evidence. Crunch is a marketing/development device geared to cause 'rules bound' gamers to purchase more. That avenue of development is based on a continual deepening of exploitation of one market subset. Crunch only works with a specific size market. And it is only one option to sell/move/develop a game.
Monopoly has done well for 60 years without adding crunch. Many games have succeeded in doing so. We,most speciifcally will not be doing that. We have neither the time nor inclination to do so.
4: The 'nostalgia' aspects of the game are why the game is attractive to some players. But, to those who have never played on version of the game other than 3.x, the nostalgia aspects have little to do with whether or not they like/play C&C. and yes, there are quite a few of those.
5: Both Steve and I derive all our income from TLG. The food on my plate is directly proportional to the amount of product we sell. It is a business. The vanity part will come in when I can affor to take six months off, go to Africa, travel and not worry about the money.
6: We are still talking about a game that has been out for only sixty or so days. That's two months. I think the sheer number of commentary and posts on such might indicate, if nothing else, a passing intererst by some parties.
