You do know that the IKWG has just about no crunch at all, yes? This is NOT the IKCG (which was very crunchy); this is the all-but-crunch-free setting fluff tome.

Yeah. I'm currently reading it.

But it's not like it exists in a vaccuum. There's a series of d20 books using the setting and the minis game that preceded it. It's not like the World Guide is the first product out of the gate and people are picking it up without any idea that they can use it for a D&D game based on the setting.

Plus, it's really neat. Not a whole lot of products are.
