There are definitely some creatures that have yet to have "awoken," and some that are just plain extinct. Dragons are unique in that they reincarnate, whereas other races can actually just die off.

So the modern population looks mostly mundane and human, with alterations/mutations/warping/reawakening caused by long-lost bloodlines, summoned spirits, or creatures (like the fey) who were "lost" finding their way back.
