Thanks for adding to the review, and providing a better overview of the game. I'm surprised you didn't have a problem with the figures - mine just slid all over the place and refused to stand up, then they were so light that they wound up all over the map every time someone walked into the room too fast.
I can commisserate with the random element, but I didn't find it as large a deterrent. Granted, a strategy game should have less random determination, so that a good player can know the odds and make contingency plans. And the reinforcement rules are a little annoying, and probably should have been modified to allow a more standard distribution of new troops. But I still had a good time with this game, until it devolved into a game of 'memory' with everyone trying to remember where the pieces had fallen from.
