I see the randomness as a feature rather than a bug. The random factors introduced by the cards and reinforcements on top of the combat results, make each game different enough that A&A: D-Day is a great game to re-play. Unlike many games where there is one certain strategy for winning, you have to constantly adjust your strategy in A&A: D-Day to account for the changing conditions brought about by random events.

I haven't had any problem with the figs not standing up, except for the landing zones that are divided by the map fold. I think that the game board does a great job of emulating a WWII era map. The only problem I have with the board is that the zone for Caen is too small, particularly considering that it one of the game's victory zones and pivotal combat zones.

I am surprised that the reviewer wasn't able to finish any games. All of my games have ended after about 3 hours.
