You bring up an interesting point Fulsrush:
One thing that always bothered me about d20 was the high level fighter surrounded by hords of goblins (low-level).
With superiour armor class and magic defenses, the poor goblins (even 100's of 'em), would almost never hit (needing a natural '20' on d20).
So, statistically only 1 in 20 goblins got luck and hit the high-level fighter, and even then, he had such a poor strenght, that his weapon would do insignifican damage. The fighter could stand there all day and fight 1,000's of goblins with no risk.
While I agree with some thoughts that FRPGs should be 'heroic', these un-realistic scenes do go 'over-the-top'.
From what I understand of WFRP2, a goblin could have no strength bonus, and a heroic fighter could have a high toughness (say +3) and the best armor (+5). Thus the poor goblin MUST roll a natural '9' or '10' to even damage him?
Could there ever be a case where a person has a > 10 in toughness + armor, thus causing weak opponents never to damage them (except for the special 'fury' roll)?
