I'll agree that the use of the word 'Strategy' was a poor choice... It's a very 'Tactical' game, if you can believe in something being both 'abstract' and 'Tactical', at the same time...
And, yes, being able to draw, hold, or play more cards than the other players is usually one of the more favorable tactics (though you often have to choose between the three)...
But the Winner is NOT determined 'randomly'!
I might give you that Victory can occur 'suddenly', and 'unexpectedly'...
and that there may be nothing you can do to impede such a victory, when the right card combination comes up...
but that is not Random!
If the player who comes up with the right combination of Keepers and Goal cards doesn't notice the fact, he can manage to play himself right out of that victory!
Please note, that this is not an especially Serious game... it is intended to be fun!
If you're not having fun, then maybe the game isn't for you, but that doesn't make it a bad game, and MOST hands take very little time to play...
