Another author who could be considered a contributor to romantic fantasy is Garth Nix, or at least his Abhorsen trilogy (which I believe to be the Australian writer's finest work to date).
The three books are "Sabriel", "Lirael: Daughter of the Clayr", and "Abhorsen". All are well-written ("Sabriel" was, in fact, Nox's first novel. I hope for more first novels that are even half as good as this one) and none delve into sexual politics of any kind (it just never really comes up, and the series doesn't suffer for this).
Any fantasy fan can read these and find something to like about them. This may also be true of readers who don't like fantasy.
