Meet the Not-Quite-Troll

Converted from Phorums BB System

Many thanks, Mr. Nisarg, for posting the link for the True20 forum.

Ladies and gentlemen, posters and readers, I'd like you to meet Mr. Nisarg, probably the least troll-like of the trollish posters. He probably doesn't deserve the name of troll. Most of his posts are well-reasoned and written in a civil tone, at least when it comes to the game system. This is a giant step up from the trolls, and a welcome one.

All this changes when he posts anything about the setting, however. He has a habit of commenting (negatively) on a setting that he has said time and again that he has no interest in, even on threads where the setting isn't even the issue. If he would stop doing this, there would be no problem. But he /does/ comment, and the results are... messy. Forums have turned into spiteful ping-pong games from his posts. At least two threads have been locked following Mr. Nisarg's posts, and the bedlam that followed from both sides of the issue. It bears mentioning that one moderator has threatened to sitelock him more than once. I leave it to others to judge whether that's his own fault.

I should also mention that one of his key arguments for the establishment of a True20 forum was that it would keep posters who weren’t interested in Blue Rose (which he stated included himself) away from the Blue Rose forums. Once it was established, however, he continued to post on the Blue Rose forum, with no less spite than before.

Most of his commentary on the setting is delivered in snide phrases that stop just short of inflammatory most of the time, and have crossed the line more than once. At least, that's how it comes across. Perhaps that's not his intent. Perhaps some of the fans of the setting could be less reactionary in their counterposts. Unfortunately, intent isn't visible on a computer screen. Mr. Nisarg could definitely stand to learn a few things about phrasing his opinions in a less disparaging manner. But saying that any criticism is seen as "trolling" is misstating the case completely, and falls into his pattern of behavior on the Blue Rose forum.

Frankly, I was withholding judgement on Mr. Nisarg until I read a few more of his posts. It’s only fair. But let him think what he wants about my motivations, I suppose. It’s likely that I can’t change his mind, and what he thinks and the truth are vastly different things in this case. I didn’t know the link to the forum, so I didn’t post it. I haven’t visited it yet. Let him make of that what he will, which he clearly has done, and in the most negative manner possible. I also have my own ideas for the True20 system, and hope that a system book will be the next major Green Ronin product.

I leave you to your opinions, Mr. Nisarg. You’re still wrong about my motivations, by the way. Make of that what you will, too.
