Who are you to tell other people that they aren't roleplaying correctly if they do not subscribe to your philosophy of gaming? That's pretty arrogant.

That's fine, I don't mind being arrogant when I'm right.

To each person, roleplaying means something different, but to announce that you aren't roleplaying if you aren't codifying things by your rather narrow interpretation is pretty weak.

You are therefore stating that, in your opinion, computer games are NOT roleplaying. I said no such thing. I said there would be AS LITTLE roleplaying. There is undoybtedly some small roleplaying element even in choosing an answer from a list, and in many cases choosing a mode of character reply (friendly, nutral, agressive, etc).

My saying that what you described sounded like a computer game, because you seem to think that everything has to follow the same exact rules set.

I'm sure you actually did read what I wrote, maybe you were busy. I did not say they had to follow the exact same rules set, I said they should be governed by equally strict and detailed rules. This seems to be the difficult concept. Equal does not mean identical, equally strict does not mean excluding any roleplaying element - it simply means that no more, nor less, weight should be given to roleplaying social interraction than to narrating combat tactics or stunts.
