A Rules Clarification

Mayfair recently published the following rules clarification which resolves some, though not all of, the issues I had with the natives:

"Some of our fans have found an unclear rule in the Amazonas game. We
apologize for the confusion.

"The rule concerns the Native tokens. Page 4 of the rulebook says:

"'If you take the native token, you must immediately assign it to one
type of specimen tokens.'

"The intent of this rule was that the native token could only be
assigned to one of the types of tokens already in play in front of
you. You may not assign the native token to a specimen type that you
have not yet collected.

"For example: if you have 2 fish tokens, 1 butterfly token, and 2
orchid tokens, then you could make the native token a fish,
butterfly or orchid, but you could not make it a parrot or iguana.

"Again, we regret any confusion that may have been caused by the
ambiguous wording of this rule, and we hope that this clarification
will help you enjoy your adventures in the dangerous paradise of
Amazonas!"
