Agreed in part, though in some cases I think "irons over some good stuff" would be fair. I'm not a fan of the Color Magic thing. I love the new mechanic but the magic license, etc., stuff from the retconned WFB background isn't my cuppajoe. I also like the distinction between Leadership and Fellowship (now merged into Fellowship) and Dexterity and Initiative (now merged into Agility). Keeping this stuff isn't all that hard, though, and indeed web sites on the internet have pretty good conversion rules.

Nonetheless, a lot of the real problem children of the original game were fixed in this one while remaining definitely in the spirit of the original.
