Grubman,
Yes, I played the first edition and I really enjoyed it (the hard covered edition released by GW). At the time I played it, 1987, Warhammer was a breath of fresh air. It was a nice departure from Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Role Master, Rune Quest, and the other fantasy fare that was out at the time.
You must own a copy of the first edition because you know all about those quirks that made it less than "smoote" to run. No examples though, that's a shame.
"Doesn't hold water to most of the games out now"? Like what? Warhammer 2nd Edition? Clarify, how it doesn't "hold water" to the games that are out now and give some examples of said games.
Anyways, you're obivously rich enough to fork out dough for the same game, rehashed and "tweaked" for wealthy people like you. Enjoy. And spend, spend, spend. You keep the industry alive and vibrant.
