I've had some more time to think about this, and actually, I've changed my mind. I *would* recommend that all WFRP groups, old and new pick up WFRP2, but that they ignore the overpriced supplements, and instead try to pick up WFRP1.
For example, WFRP1 has all of the information from the new Bestiary, plus a great deal more, and could probably be got for a fraction of the Bestiary's price.

The only WFRP2 supplement I'd consider is a magic book, because WFRP1's magic was so broken that it would be of little use there. But then again, I never used magic except for NPCs and monsters and then I winged it anyway.
