Converted from Phorums BB System
It really comes down to personal taste I think. I quite like a relatively rules-light game myself, and would just as happily play in a Hyborian Age game using Sorcerer & Sword as a rules-set as I would in a straight Conan OGL game.
Fortunately or unfortunately, as a game designer, I know d20 well enough that I can play Conan OGL combats through at least as fast as standard d20 combats, usually more so. For someone who doesn't much like d20, Conan OGl may not be the system for you (I'll still argue that it's worth picking up for the non-system info though).
For d20 gamers (which is the market I wrote it for, and presumably the main market Mongoose is targeting with their Conan line), though, this book seems to work very well, and I believe the sales, critical responses, and fan acclaim reflect that.
