Converted from Phorums BB System
A D&D/d20 melee with 10-15 combatants including some magic and including foes who are above the ranks of cannon fodder has always taken some significant amount of time. Maybe 1-2 hours. Maybe less given a major feat of magic or some morale-crushing critical hit.
It has has ALWAYS been so. Anyone who thinks this is somehow a deviation or excessive is either fudging or should probable check out the AMBER diceless rpg system.
I repeat. Melees take a while. That's just the way it is. Anyone who doesn't enjoy the tactical simulation of a fantasy battle via the rpg lense probable wouldn't like Conan and probably find better rpgs than d20 for games featuring primarily role-playing.
For myself, I LIKE hack...and...slash...
Anything else goes on all around me every day. I don't need an rpg for it.
