Converted from Phorums BB System

The sad thing is that I think a game with meso-american culture and themes would rock, what with me wanting to to study meso-american archaeology in grad school. I always wanted to take the Maztica setting and adapt it to another ruleset. My players would not know what to do with it though.

As for the first, I read the review and I cringed. Whenever I read a book with guns in at and it is obvious that the author knew NOTHING about books, I get the same result. Tekumel is very internally consistant and logical. It is also very frustrating to a Westerner who does not understand the mindset. As for the vast timelines, I find that fairly silly myself, butit is part of the game, and much of the "history" is myth, or is it? So the 60,000 years could be a lot less, et al.

as for the second, I have the very same problem. My former gaming group would NOT consider anything other than D&D. Their loss. I got tiredof the hyperbole about "playing something different" and "getting into the setting" when all they really meant was "I figured a loophole in the rules now I have an archer who does an average of 48 points of damage per attack."
