Some of us consider that to be a lot better than D&D. I reviewed the first edition of Cursed Empire (then called "Crimson Empire") here and found the re-introduction of a d% mechanic into gaming's mainstream to be a positive thing. It serves as a simple foundation for an internally consistent game system (which, while the d20 System is simple, it is a far cry from being internally consistent).
