I agree - folks should be aware of this rivalry - but I think
a) a new gm needs more help generating a feel for this and why it is important

b) new players to WFRP also need some help too -

I guess, apart from the linearity, lack of depth there was the lack of story development and guidance for those who are new to the setting.

As for your other comments - yes - there are some excellent moments in this scenario - which I should have commented on - to be fair to it!
